I’ve been running a Turkey Trot since I was a little kid growing up in California and it's one of my core memories so I've continued the tradition here- and while the South Shore version is definitely colder, it’s just as enjoyable. It’s one of my favorite ways to start Thanksgiving morning. Getting outside, moving a bit, and being surrounded by neighbors always sets the tone for the day. And if you have family visiting, it’s such a fun tradition to share.

If you haven’t signed up yet, there are still several local races with open registration:

Braintree Turkey Day 5K – Braintree, MA

These races capture so much of what makes the South Shore feel like home- the community, ability to enjoy green space or coastal running routes, the families bundled up and out early together. Whether you’re new to the area or have been here forever, it’s an easy way to feel connected before the holiday officially begins.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
